Big donations send 70 Latino students to academic camp

Big donations send 70 Latino students to academic camp: ATLANTA -- More than 70 Latino students will be more prepared for the new school year thanks to big donations from the Rotary Club of Atlanta, The Westminster Schools and Samson Trailways.

Together, they donated $25,000 to help LaAmistad, Inc. and The Westminster Schools run an academic summer camp called "AnĂmate" to benefit Latino students in elementary school.

"Without the generosity of these organizations, as well as private donors, this camp would not have been a possibility for these students to attend," said Jennifer O'Pry, Atlanta Area Director. "That could compromise their academic success and lead to poor self-esteem."

The camp allows Latino children in the Atlanta area to continue their academic progress during the summer in a unique environment with certified teachers and other highly-trained professionals.
