Dallas 911 operator: Black domestic violence victims are ‘like animals’ | The Raw Story

Dallas 911 operator: Black domestic violence victims are ‘like animals’ | The Raw Story: A Dallas 911 operator was fired on Wednesday after reportedly posting racist messages to Facebook about African-American domestic violence victims and other residents that she was supposed to be helping to protect.

In Facebook screen shots obtained by WFAA, then-911 operator April Sims rants about African-Americans and Hispanics.

“Black people are outrageous! They are more like animals, they never know how to act, just loud [expletive] Always causing problems,” she writes. “I can count on one hand the black people I know who don’t have [expletive] for brains.”

Sims goes on to provide details about one specific 911 caller.

“You want to call 911 cause your boyfriend put his hands on you and you want to press charges when you don’t even know his real name?! Sure lets make a police report for Dino, that is his street name.”

In another post, she says that she can “count on one hand the black people I know who aren’t selfish.”

According to WFAA, Sims had been hired in December in a rush to fill positions after Deanna Cook’s murder was captured on a 911 call but her body was not found until two days later.

Although Sims’ Facebook page was not public, a friend told The Dallas Morning News that she confronted the former 911 operator about what the city’s black police chief would think about the racist posts.

“I stand by every word I said. And do not apologize,” she replied. “The end.”
